The new Ford Mustang GTD is coming soon

The new Mustang GTD is set to redefine the boundaries of what a Ford Mustang can achieve. Designed as a road-legal supercar with the heart of a race car, this high-performance vehicle is a bold statement from Ford, combining advanced engineering with striking design. Here's an in-depth look at the Mustang GTD, which promises unparalleled performance both on and off the track when it arrives in 2025.

A Track-Ready Supercar for Roads

The Ford Mustang GTD will make for a bold addition to the Mustang lineup, combining the soul of an American muscle car with the precision of European supercars. Designed for enthusiasts who demand performance without compromise, it represents a pinnacle of engineering and design. The Mustang GTD is an impressive vehicle that is ready for the tracks but has been designed for the roads.

The supercar experience

At the core of the Mustang GTD is a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine, producing over 800 horsepower. Paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, it delivers power through a rear-mounted transaxle for near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. This setup ensures exceptional handling and acceleration, making it a formidable presence on the track. Semi-active suspension and an advanced aerodynamics package, including a dynamic rear wing, further enhance its capabilities.

A striking standout design

The GTD features a striking design that blends Mustang heritage with cutting-edge supercar aesthetics. Extensive use of carbon fibre reduces weight and lowers the centre of gravity, improving agility and responsiveness. A Chroma Flame paint option, alongside body-coloured stripes and black-painted brake callipers, ensures every GTD makes a bold visual statement.

Premium passenger experience

Inside, the GTD is as focused as its performance. High-quality materials, including titanium paddle shifters and a rotary switch, add a luxurious yet sporty feel. The digital cockpit is built around a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.4-inch digital driver display, providing essential driving data and customisable driving modes tailored to road or track conditions.

Top-of-the-line Technology

As you would expect, advanced technology enhances every aspect of the GTD. Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system features Mustang-specific graphics and functionality, while performance displays keep the driver informed about key metrics. The system also integrates with modern connectivity solutions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless digital experiences.

Designed for control

While the Mustang GTD is built for performance, Ford hasn’t neglected safety. The advanced suspension and aerodynamic systems are designed to maintain control at high speeds, while cutting-edge materials and precision engineering add to the car's structural integrity. Enhanced braking systems and superior handling capabilities offer confidence for drivers both on the track and on public roads.

Track-ready engineering

The GTD is not just a road car with track capabilities—it’s a track car that happens to be road legal. Hydraulic suspension adjustments allow the car to lower itself for optimal track performance. Wide magnesium wheels paired with high-performance tyres ensure maximum grip and stability during high-speed cornering.

A car for the future

Despite its petrol-powered engine, the Mustang GTD showcases Ford’s commitment to future-ready engineering. Carbon fibre components and lightweight materials reflect modern sustainability practices, aiming to balance power and efficiency. And, even though the new Ford Mustang GTD is not an electric vehicle, it demonstrates a step forward in efficient supercar design.
